With all of the foreclosed homes on the market you’ll get a chance to see everything from Terrific to Terrible
The terrific ones are easy to spot…some of the terrible ones are easy to spot…take this little plumbing nightmare as an example:
When you walk up to a place that has plumbing issues like this you just don’t expect to see good things inside!
And…true to form…this home had MAJOR issues…not the least of which was an unpermitted room addition that was falling off the back of the original structure.
These are the ones you can laugh at as you walk away…but there are some that can appear solid…to the untrained eye…and end up costing someone the big bucks.
We always use the best home inspectors available…these folks are the best insurance policy a buyer can ever get…it’s way better to shell out $400 and learn you should walk away than to buy a place that ends up costing you tens of thousands…or more!
Here’s a partial list of things buyers need to watch carefully:
- How is the slab or foundation?
- Is this an area of expansive soils
- Are there any drainage problems
- Any evidence of settling or level changes in the floor
- Additions or repairs done without permits
I’ll coach you through every step of the purchase process…I’ve had LOTS of remodeling and construction experience…and can help you work with your inspector to indentify problems, and suggest solutions!
